Project Overview

I was tasked with creating leadership pages for our executive team, principals, senior leadership, and technical directors. These pages needed to display all of the relevant information for the leaders to be contacted by current and potential clients. We wanted to include touch points on their pages as a way to connect with clients. These touch points included news articles, engineering education, favorite projects, and thought leadership.

The Challenge

Create a leadership page template that dynamically pulls data from our CRM and backfills all necessary content for each leader. Ensure that this new UI will successfully display the leader’s name, title, credentials, contact information, and relevant touch points for clients. The design should be easy to navigate and aesthetically pleasing.

The Solution

At Henderson Engineers, our people are our brand. I wanted to make sure each leader was featured prominently at the top along with their name, title, and credentials. To round out their leadership page, ensure that the new UI successfully displays their contact information and relevant touch points for clients.

Research & Initial Designs

I began by researching competitors and gaining inspiration from mood boards. I sketched out a few basic wireframes to get an idea of which direction I liked the most. I wanted to clearly define each leader, their credentials, and qualifications. Once I settled on a design, I refined it to create a strong UI, effective usability, and was consistent with our brand.

User Testing

Once I had a leadership page created, I decided to conduct further user testing with a few members of our executive team and client relationship directors. I walked them through my designs which helped me to ensure the user is kept in mind. After the participants navigated through the leadership page, I simply asked for feedback.

Prototype Development

Once all of the user testing and improvements were made, I started prototyping. I designed and prototyped the leadership pages in Adobe XD. I built a separate file to mark out what would be backfilled dynamically and what parts would be hard coded so the developer understood clearly.

Live Site & Reflection

This project took a little over six months from start to finish. We took our time to make sure we understood the needs of the firm and balanced that with what the user was telling us. We spent a lot of time building out the CRM, so ongoing maintenance was streamlined for new members of our marketing team.
